Baptism | Made New

• It is shouting your identity as a Child of God!
• It is something you do to show other people you love Jesus, you have asked him to forgive you, and you want to obey his commands.
• It is a symbol of Jesus dying, being buried and raising from the grave (Colossians 2:12).
• As you come out of the water, the old life is gone and you are “made new.”

“As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and  he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him. And a voice from heaven said, ‘This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.’” Matthew 3:16-17

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20

Ask yourself some questions:

#1 – Have you asked Jesus to forgive you?

#2 – Are you ready to tell and show your friends and family that Jesus is your Savior? 

In the Bible, all instances of baptism follow an individual’s decision to trust Jesus alone for their salvation. At ICLV, we wait until children are old enough to believe and understand the true meaning of baptism before we baptize them. When a child makes a decision for Christ, we gladly baptize them as a symbol of their faith in Christ.

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me. Don’t keep them away. The kingdom of heaven belongs to people like them.” (Matthew 19:14)

Baptism is NOT:

• Necessary to get to heaven
• The way to get to heaven
• How you are forgiven of your sins

* Baptism isn’t a promise that you’ll never sin again, it’s acknowledging that we are sinful and that we need His help. 

• Seek God Daily – Read your Bible and talk to God.
• Find Community – Friends to encourage / support.
• Start Serving – God gave you gifts to share!
